Betty Lou Evans, 89 of Greenville, passed away on October 6, 2017 at Legend Healthcare in Greenville. Funeral services will be 10 A.M., Monday, Oct 9, 2017 at Coker-Mathews Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Kelly Carr officiating. Visitation will be Sunday, October 8, 2017 from 5 P.M. to 7 P.M. at the funeral home.  Burial will be in Hall Cemetery.

Mrs. Evans was born February 3, 1928 in Fort Worth, Texas to Lane Oakley and Oma Lee Harris. She owned Sabine Tackle Supply and was a member of Bullcreek Cowboy Church. She was a big fisherman and enjoyed family dinners and activities.

She is survived by her son, Jerry Evans and wife, Julie, daughter, Janice Cowley and husband, Jack; son-in-law, Bob Hill; grandchildren, Justin McCord and wife, Marla, Matthew Prince and wife, Jamie, Candace Jimenez and husband, Martin, Christal Cowley, Joshua Evans, Jessica Evans and four great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, daughters, Jackie Lee Hill and Jo Lynn McCord, granddaughter, Rene’ McCord Stovall, brother, Kenneth Oakley and ex-husband, Jack Evans.

Pallbearers will be Joshua Evans, Justin McCord, Matthew Prince, Martin Jimenez, Bryton Jimenez and Clint Cowley. Honorary pallbearers will be David Hanson, Chad Stroud and Jeff Gore.

In Betty’s words: “I am especially proud of my family and my friends, the people in my life that made it beautiful. My God is a loving Father with mercy and grace for me. I am a member of His family because His son, Jesus Christ, died for my sins. His blessings for me are countless.”
