Noma Athene Zuefeldt, 83 of Greenville, passed away peacefully
January 6, 2018 at her residence. Funeral services will be 10 A.M., Friday,
January 12, 2018 at Coker-Mathews Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Gordon Nelms
officiating. Burial will be in Laurel Land Cemetery in Dallas. Visitation will
be 9 A.M. until service time.
Mrs. Zuefeldt was born near Paris, Texas in 1934 to Loman
Hart and Lucille Watson. She was married to William Charles Barney for the last
10 years of her life. Prior to “Barney”
she was married to Arlin Roberts with whom she had 4 children and Harry
Zuefeldt. She retired from Southwestern
Bell as an operator. Athene loved the Lord and attended Sunday School and Bible
studies with a fervent heart. She had a
gift to encourage and lift-up people wherever she went. She made friends easily and was a good friend
and neighbor to all. An avid pet lover,
Athene would take in strays and nurse them to health and find loving homes for
She is survived by her son, Gary Roberts & wife, Susan
of Royse City, daughters, Crystal Livingston & husband, Dewayne Hibbard of
Alba and Quantilla Mercer of Neches; five grandchildren and four
great-grandchildren; and her 3 cats, Cleopatra, Max and Molly.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husbands W. C. Barney, Harry Zuefeldt,
Arlin Roberts, son, Terry Roberts and brother James Hart.
Pallbearers will be Joshua Horsey, Daniel Roberts, Dewayne
Hibbard, Byron Jenkins, Driscoll Jenkins and Ronnie Hart.
