Peggy H. Rucker

Peggy Joyce Hughes Rucker, 82 years old, passed away in her home July 19, 2018, in Greenville, Texas after an arduous struggle with cancer.

 

Reverend Gene Wisdom will deliver a memorial service at Wesley United Methodist Church, Greenville, at 11:00 am on Tuesday, July 24, 2018.  Visitation will be one hour before the service.

 

She was born February 10, 1936, in Oak Hill, Ohio, to the late Evan Howard Hughes and Murble Ruth Tope Hughes.

 

She was preceded in passing by her parents, a brother, Richard H. Hughes, and sisters, Catherine Hughes Lewis and Rose Hughes Thomas.

 

She was united in marriage to Glen David Rucker on December 19, 1959, at the Methodist Church in Oak Hill, Ohio.

 

Peggy was employed throughout most of her life, first as the registrar in the Jackson County, Ohio, Department of Health; then as the freshman admissions coordinator at the University of Kentucky, Lexington and as a teacher assistant in the Greenville School District for 21 years.

 

She is survived by her husband Glen of 58 years and her great joys, daughters Megan, her husband (Greg) of Austin, Texas, and Myra of Greenville, Texas, grandchildren Dhani Geisler of Richardson, Texas and Dieter Geisler of Austin, Texas.

 

She is also survived by siblings, Charles Morgan Hughes (Kriston), of Oak Hill, Ohio and Aldean Hughes Foster (Jerry) of Oak Hill, Ohio, Ruth Hughes McGoon (Don) of Jackson, Ohio and caring nieces and nephews.

 

She was a beloved sister-in-law to Bob Rucker (Mary Ann) of Bonita Springs, Florida; Tom Rucker of Troy, Ohio, and Rebecca Blair (Jonnie) of Somerset, Kentucky.

 

Peggy was a faithful member of Wesley United Methodist Church for fifty years where she taught the Kindergarten class for twenty years and as a member of the Alpha class where she served as Secretary for many years. Her devotion to God and effective witness was evident in her strong, faithful living and service to others. Peggy regularly sent cards and letters to lift the spirits of others.

 

Peggy enjoyed traveling, especially going home to Ohio and Kentucky to visit with family and visiting Canada. She loved antique hunting and will be remembered for her love and joy of being a daughter, sister, wife, mother, and friend.
