Doris Jewel Wood, 90, of Greenville, passed away July 23,
2018 in Greenville. Funeral services will be 10:30 A.M., Thursday, July 26,
2018 at Coker-Mathews Funeral Home Chapel with Mr. Gordon Grammer and Mr. Brady
Cook officiating. Burial will follow at Memoryland Memorial Park. Visitation will be 9:30 A.M. until service
Mrs. Wood was born in Denton, Texas on August 7, 1927 to
Charles Mercer and Thelma Short Mercer. She married Paul W. Wood, Jr. in Denton, Texas
on July 26, 1946. She was a homemaker and
a former member of Southside Church of Christ.
Doris worked for G. I. S. D. for
many years and was the first secretary at Crockett Elementary. She also owned and operated Fashion Fabrics. As a Christian woman, she enjoyed family and
friends. She was considered an excellent
cook, seamstress and crocheter. She
believed in God first and family second.
She is survived by her sons, Paul Wood and wife, Debbie, Joe
Wood and Chuck Wood and wife, Sue; daughter, Mary Wood Kennedy and husband, Rodger;
grandchildren, Wendy Jaco & husband, Jeff, Paige Jordan and husband, Tyson,
Joey Wood, Angela Harris and husband, Daniel, Daniel Wood, Shawna Kennedy and
Shawn Kennedy and wife, Amanda and twenty great-grandchildren and two
She is preceded in death by her husband and parents.
Pallbearers will be Shawn Kennedy, Tyson Jordan, Jeff Jaco,
Clint Stuart, Sammy Duncan and Joey Wood.
