Ben Bentley
April 12, 1967 - September 3, 2022
Ronald Bennett Bentley, 55, our "Gentle Giant", went
to be with our Precious Lord and Savior on September 3, 2022. Funeral services
will be held 2:00 P.M., September 9, 2022, at Coker-Mathews Funeral Home with Pastor Butch
Bruton officiating. Visitation will be 6:00 P.M. 8:00 P.M., on Thursday, September
8, 2022, at the funeral home. Interment will be in Caddo I.O.O.F. Cemetery.
Ben was born on April 12, 1967, in Greenville, Texas
to Buel Ray Bentley and Joan Bost Bentley.
He was a member of Caddo Mills Masonic Lodge #581, for
over 30 years. A 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason, as well as the Hella
Shrine in Garland, Texas, and Caddo Mills Order of the Eastern Star #82. Ben
was on the Caddo Mills Cemetery Board for many years and a Caddo Mills City
Councilman for twelve years.
Ben was a legend in the Polyurethane Foaming industry.
He and his father, Buel Ray started their business, Bentley and Sons roofing in
the early 1980's. Ben would work for others in the foaming industry through the
years, and it was said, "Nobody could spray a wine tank or roof like Ben Bentley."
Ben sprayed the Superdome in New Orleans in the late 90's and wine tanks all
over California. Ben and his son, Shawn, sprayed the roof of the Nuclear Plant
in Port St. Lucie, Florida for their friend Jimmie Lee; along with many, many
more roofs all over the country. Ben and his father also built the "Puff Plane",
a scarfing machine that takes old foam off of roofs.
Ben was diagnosed with Follicular Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma
in 2012. That ended a career he truly enjoyed and loved. Ben was so thrilled
when his son, Shawn, took over the roofing business and building of the Puff
Plane.
Ben was so proud of "his boys", Shawn and John. He
would tell everyone about his Marines and would beam with pride.
He was also so proud of his "baby girl", Madison. He
was so happy to get to see her graduate from High School this last May. They
were so close, when you saw one, you usually saw the other. They definitely were
two of a kind and best buddies.
He is survived by his loving wife, Heather Buchanan
Bentley, or to him, "Feather"; his children, Shawn Bentley and wife, Mary of
Caddo Mills, John Bentley and wife, Amber of Kronenwetter, Wisconsin, and
Madison Bentley of Caddo Mills; mother, Joan Bost Bentley Bramlett; bonus
father, Bob Bramlett; sister and brother, Pamela Bentley Kopfer and Randall
Kopfer; bonus brothers and sisters, Gary and Lisa Bramlett, Mike and Dee
Bramlett, and Pat and Sharon Bramlett; precious grandbabies, Ryleigh Lin, Allie
Marie, Beau Riley, Hannah Rhea, and Augustus James; uncle and aunt, Ron and
Sarah Bost; cousins, Bill and Mark Bost; parents in love, David and Rebecca
Buchanan; brother and friend, Larry Martin; along with many cousins and loving
friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Buel Ray Bentley;
paternal grandparents, Ira Buel and Marie Bentley; maternal grandparents, EJ
and Margaret Bost. Ben never met a stranger. He loved to talk and be a
jokester. He had a heart as big as Texas and made of gold. He would help anyone
day or night, and literally would give you the shirt off his back. He fought
the good fight for many years, loved his family, and friends so much, he hated
to leave them. His family is so proud of the legacy he left behind but are so
thankful he will never suffer with his pain ever again.
A special thank you to his Oncologist and friend, Dr.
Dennis Birenbaum; personal care Physician and friend, Dr. Robert Stark; and all
his friends for their love and prayers through the years.
Pallbearers will be David Lee Dodson, Nathan Jeffery,
