Velma Kathryn Johnson

Velma Kathryn Johnson, 85, of Greenville, passed away on August 4, 2023, at Baylor, Scott & White Lake Pointe in Rowlett, Texas. Funeral services will be Tuesday, August 8, 2023, at 11:00 AM in the chapel of Coker-Mathews Funeral Home with Rev. Steve Payne officiating. Burial will follow the service at Memoryland Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until service time on Tuesday.
Kathryn was born on December 30, 1937, in Honey Grove, Texas to Elmer Lair and Eunice Edna Bell Lair. Kathryn was a 1956 graduate from Honey Grove High School. Kathryn married Floyd Ray Johnson on June 29, 1956, in Dial, Texas. In Kathryn's early years she worked for Henson and Shirey's. Kathryn worked as a Radiology Scheduler for Hunt Regional Medical Center for 26 years, prior to that she helped run Ray Johnson Rentals (R&K Rentals) with her husband. Kathryn retired when covid hit this area.
Kathryn is survived by daughters Glynda Kay Johnson Bates of Greenville, Karen Denise Johnson Trotter and husband Larry of Forney, Beverly Michelle Johnson Sumrow and husband Gregg of Forney, grandchildren Jarrod Bates, Ashley Bates Jones, Michael Bates, Katy Trotter Hudson, Sarah Sumrow, Emma Sumrow, and 14 great-grandchildren.
Kathryn is preceded in death by her husband Floyd Ray Johnson, her parents, sister Christine Charles and one great grandson Nathanuel Moreno.
Pallbearers will be Jarrod Bates, Michael Bates, Jaikin Bates, Charlie jones, Mark Arnold and Lucas Arnold.
