Barbara E. Hendrick Choate
January 15, 1937 - January 18, 2024
On Jan. 18, 2024, Barbara E. Hendrick Choate, 87, of Campbell, Texas, surrounded by family, passed peacefully to be with Jesus.
She was born Jan. 15, 1937 in Greenville, Texas, to parents Earnest Lee Hendrick and Lillie Agnes Carlile Hendrick; and raised by sister of Lillie, Aunt Edna Jones, all deceased. She married Charles (Buddy) Hennan Choate on Dec. 22, 1955 in Lovington, New Mexico, who predeceased her on Jan. 24, 2012. She was also preceded in death by sister, Wanda Cooper and cousin Charles Jones (who she was raised with as a brother).
She is survived by daughter, Toyi Choate Stinebaugh and spouse, Joe Stinebaugh, sons David Choate and spouse, Malinda Venegas of Florida and Barry Choate of Garland, Texas. She is also survived by four granddaughters, Briana Johnson Stringer, Pflugerville, Texas, Raven Johnson Price and spouse Eric of Austin, Texas, Candace Choate of Dallas, Texas and Laura Choate of Arlington, Texas. She is also survived by step grandson, Tommy Brown and wife, Christie of Dallas, Texas, and Lanee Brown Wright and spouse, Eric of Dallas, Texas; as well as several step grandchildren, nieces, nephews and their children.
Barbara worked and retired after 40 years of service from Raytheon/E-Systems, where not only did she win many awards, she gained hundreds of friends along the way. She sold Avon for 25 years as well, where she also gained many more friends. She volunteered for hospice care facilities and Salvation Army for many years. She was a member of The Red Hats Society, the high school class of 55 and UAW Local 967.
She was always taking pictures and sharing them with family and friends. She did so much for others, one could write a book about her life and how she touched so many lives. For instance, she cared for ailing friends in assisted living, in their homes and cared for many with cancer, driving them to doctors and helping them with errands. She sent birthday cards and Christmas cards to hundreds of friends and family every year without fail.
She had a work ethic that few people could hardly ever match, all the while leading people in her work division by her example, while still doing little things for everyone around her. She had boundless energy for others. She was a member of Shady Grove Baptist Church of Campbell/Greenville, Texas.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, Jan. 22, at noon at the chapel of Coker-Mathews Funeral Home, with Pastor Steven McAbee officiating. Burial will follow at Brigham Cemetery. Visitation will be at 11 a.m. until service at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Mark Meadows, Brett Meadows, Jim Jones, Joe Stinebaugh, James Stinebaugh and Tommy Brown, all related by blood and marriage.
