Johnny Myers
September 23, 1934 - January 20, 2024
John Wade Myers of Celeste, Texas - beloved father, grandfather, uncle and friend, made his final journey into heaven on January 20, 2024 at the age of 89. Johnny was born to Pearl and Sylvester Myers in Needmore, Texas on September 23, 1934. He graduated from Celeste High School in 1953. From 1957-1959, he proudly served his country in the army.
After a 30+ year career as a security guard for E-Systems in Greenville, TX, he retired and acquired many pastimes. Among these were riding his bicycle, fishing, and restoring old bicycles to give to children that didn't have one.
Johnny's smile could brighten anyone's day. He always has an old story to tell and a laugh to share. His giving, servant heart will be greatly missed by all who knew him. But his memories and stories will be passed along for generations to come.
Johnny has left a legacy through his children, - Murray (Ray) Myers and wife, Julie with their children, John Ross, Brooke and Drew; Victor Myers and wife, Heather with their children, Grace, Jacalyn, Jaydon, Jonathon, Jakob, and Gentry; Abra Kent and husband, John David with their children, Reed, Chas, Zy and Rylan and step-son Jimmy (Eddie) Pope and children, Cody, Katy, Carol and Rebekah.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Pearl and Sylvester Myers, his wife, Sue Myers, stepson, Jimmy Pope, his sister and brother-in-law, Wanda Mae and Joe Glawson and his sister and brother-in-law Virgean and Haskell LaFavers.
Pallbearers will be Jeff Glawson, James LaFavers, David LaFavers, Tyler LaFavers, Roger Claxton, and Rex Claxton.
Please join us in celebrating his amazing life on Wednesday, January 24, 2024 at 11:00 A.M. at the First Baptist Church of Celeste at 203 W Cockrell St, Celeste, TX 75423. Visitation will be held 10:00am until service time at the church. He will be laid to rest at the Celeste Cemetery. Coker-Mathews Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
