Gilberto P. Castro, Sr., 73, of Greenville, passed away on September 23, 2024, at Baylor Medical Center in Dallas, surrounded by his loving family. A celebration of life will be 1:00 P.M. to 3:00 P.M., Saturday, October 12, 2024 at 3315 Washington Street, Commerce, Texas. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Coker-Mathews Funeral Home.

Gilberto was born on October 1, 1950, in Hutto, Texas, to Florentino Castro and Manuela Perez Castro. Gilberto married the love of his life Teresa Loya on March 23, 1973, in Greenville, Texas. Gilberto worked for Martins Saddlery as a saddle maker.

Gilberto is survived by his wife Teresa Castro, son Gilberto Castro Jr. and wife Misty Kerbo, daughter Geneva Kegerreis and husband James, grandchildren Jessica Castro, Jackson Kegerreis, Justin Carty, Madison Castro, Alexis Castro, Monico Castro, great-grandchildren Alexander Fuentes-Carty, Issac Fuentes-Carty, Sofia Fuentes, Elisa Fuentes-Carty, brothers Fidel Castro and Ramiro Castro, sisters Chavela Gonzales and Estella Castro.

Gilberto is preceded in death by his parents, brother Tino Castro, sisters Eva Saldana and Avrodra Castro, grandsons Jacob Castro and Kolton Kerbo, and brother-in-law Adolph Loya.
