Audette V. Kincaid
February 10, 1949 - March 14, 2026
Audette V. Kincaid, loving wife, mother, grandmother, and teacher, passed away from multiple organ failure on March 14, 2026, at Medical City Plano. She was surrounded by her family and will be dearly missed.
Audette was born on February 10, 1949, to Lucian Vaughn and Ovie Howard Vaughn of Saint Jo, Texas. She graduated in 1967 from Saint Jo High School, where she was in the band and served as a cheerleader and sweetheart of the Saint Jo Riding Club. She earned her Associates Degree in 1969 from Cooke County Junior College and her Bachelor of Science Degree in 1971 from Texas Tech University.
While a student at Texas Tech, Audette met Bill Kincaid when he sat down beside her at First Baptist Church in Lubbock; after accepting his invitation to an upcoming law banquet, the couple began dating. They married on the fourth anniversary of their first date, and celebrated their 52nd anniversary of marriage earlier this year.
Audette earned Masters Degrees in home economics from Texas Tech and education from Texas Woman's University, as well as a Doctor of Jurisprudence Degree from Texas Wesleyan School of Law (now Texas A&M School of Law). Since she also had a dozen teaching certifications, Audette taught a variety of middle and high school courses in Bowie, Sanger, and McKinney while also assisting her attorney husband at his law offices.
When Audette retired from teaching about a decade ago, Bill stopped taking new contested court cases and the couple began looking for a home closer to their children and grandchildren, eventually choosing Greenville as their place to retire. They have been active in Highland Terrace Baptist Church's choirs and Young at Heart senior adult programs.
Audette is survived by her husband, Bill; daughters Cheryl-Annette Parker (Brandon), Christina Freeman (Steven), and Sharlene Kincaid; grandchildren Rylan Parker, Lily Freeman, Sean Parker, Hazel Freeman, and Finley Freeman; and brother Lucian Vaughn, Jr.
A memorial service for Audette will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 27, 2026, at Highland Terrace Baptist Church (3939 Joe Ramsey Blvd.) in Greenville, Texas.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to Highland Terrace Baptist Church, Ronald McDonald House, American Cancer Society, or such other charity as the donor may choose.
Coker-Mathews Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
