Maria Sanchez, 98, of Greenville, Texas, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, June 6, 2026.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, at Coker-Mathews Funeral Home Chapel. A rosary will be recited from 6:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, followed by visitation from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Memoryland Memorial Park.

Serving as pallbearers will be Rafael Sanchez Sr., Jose Saavedra, Rafael Sanchez Jr., Miguel Saavedra Jr., Anthony Sanchez, and Aiden Sanchez.

Maria was born on October 5, 1927, in Ocampo, Guanajuato, Mexico, to Francisco Vega and Germana Hernandez. On July 7, 1962, she married the love of her life, Jose Sanchez, in León, Guanajuato, Mexico. Together they built a beautiful family and were blessed with three children: Rafael, Berta, and Estella.

In 1974 Maria and her family made Greenville, Texas, their home. She dedicated her life to caring for her family as a devoted homemaker and was a faithful member of St. William Catholic Church.

Maria was known for her unwavering love, kindness, strength, and deep devotion to her family. She also had a quirky sense of humor that brought laughter and joy to those around her. Whether through a witty remark, a playful joke, or her unique way of seeing the world, she had a gift for making people smile. Her warm spirit, infectious laughter, and ability to find humor in everyday moments will be remembered and cherished by all who knew and loved her.

She cherished every moment spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, leaving behind a legacy of love, faith, and family that will continue for generations.

She is survived by her son, Rafael Sanchez Sr. and wife, Amelia; daughter, Berta Saavedra and husband, Miguel; grandchildren, Jose Saavedra and wife, Lindsey, Blanca Musgrave and husband, Chase, Monica Sanchez, Rafael Sanchez Jr. and wife, Bianca, Miguel Saavedra Jr. and fiancée, Monica Flores, and Jake Crider; as well as eleven great-grandchildren. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will forever cherish her memory.

Maria was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jose Sanchez, and her cherished daughter, Estella Crider.

Though she will be deeply missed, her family finds comfort in the many memories she leaves behind and in the lasting impact of her love, faith, and guidance.
