Gene Boyd Martin

Gene Boyd Martin, 88, of Celeste, Texas, was welcomed into heaven on Friday, July 31, 2026. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, at Coker-Mathews Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be 10:00 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home. Interment will be at Celeste Cemetery.

Gene was born March 30, 1938, in Celeste, Texas, to Orval and Maggie Mae Hackney Martin. He married Suzanne Smith on May 24, 1957. Gene was a member of First Baptist Church of Celeste, where his faith guided his life and where he enjoyed worshipping alongside his church family for many years. He was known for his kindness, quiet strength, and willingness to lend a helping hand to those in need.

Gene spent much of his professional career working in procurement at IBM. His strong work ethic, integrity, and commitment earned the respect of his coworkers and friends throughout the years.

Above all, Gene treasured the time he spent with his family and friends. He will be remembered for his warm heart, gentle spirit, and the lasting impact he made on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.

He leaves behind his family who were his greatest pride: Suzanne his wife of 69 years, his two sons, David Martin and companion Becky; Paul Martin and wife Jeannie, one daughter, Debra Richards and husband David, and five loving grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Betty Rattheim.

Honorary pallbearers will be Chris Johnson, Collin Clark, Cody Clark, Steve Davis, Davis Sanderson and Chris Keen.
