October 3, 1947 - September 1, 2026
Gary Wayne Norton, 78, of Amarillo, Texas, and formerly of Lone Oak, passed away on Tuesday, September 1, 2026. Born on October 3, 1947, in Munday, Texas, Gary was the son of the late Joe and Genevieve ''Gene'' Norton. Throughout his life, he called Dallas, Lone Oak, and Amarillo home.
Gary was a passionate outdoorsman who found great joy in hunting. He will be remembered for his warm, outgoing nature, his devoted friendships, and his love of talking with friends and family. He treasured sharing memories, catching up, and staying connected with the people who mattered most to him.
Above all, Gary was a gifted storyteller. His remarkable way of telling a story could capture everyone's attention and leave a lasting impression. He delighted in sharing things he had read or learned, especially knowledge passed down by an old-timer. His long conversations, familiar stories, and unmistakable presence will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved him.
His daughter, Jamie, remembers him as ''the best storyteller there ever was,'' adding, ''If only I could hear my dad tell just one more story.''
Gary was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Terry Norton.
He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his daughter, Jamie Elizabeth Hart, and his beloved granddaughter, Kaitlyn Elizabeth Arterburn. He is also survived by his son, Eric Wayne Norton, and grandsons, Nicholas Norton and Joshua Norton.
