Charles Burton Robertson

I served in the Army.
Charles Burton Robertson, 92, of Greenville, Texas, passed away on September 12th, 2023. A graveside service will be 11:00 A.M., Monday, September 18, 2023, at Memoryland Memorial Park with Rev. William Smith officiating. Visitation will be 10:00 A.M. until service time at Coker-Mathews Funeral Home.

Charles was born August 24th, 1931, in Greenville, Texas, to Buray and Beatrice Robertson. He was a graduate of Greenville High School, class of 1948, where he was a pitcher for the Greenville Lions baseball team. After high school, he attended East Texas State University, graduating in 1953 with a double major in Business and Physical Education. After graduating college, he proudly served the United States Army for 2 years, where he was stationed in Korea. Upon returning from the military, he went back to college to work on his master's degree. This is where he met his wife of 67 years, Mariana McMillon. They were married September 8th, 1956, in Point, Texas, at the United Methodist Church. Charles was a lifetime resident of Greenville and attended Wesley United Methodist Church. Charles, proudly nicknamed ''Trickie'' by his grandchildren, loved his family very much - he loved to go to his grandchildren's sporting events. He liked for his grandkids to come and spend the night, taking them to breakfast at CB's the next morning. He enjoyed sports, baseball being his favorite. Charles was the first Athletic Director at the YMCA. He then worked at E-Systems, retiring after 36 years.

Charles was a good man and will be missed greatly until we are reunited once again. He will forever be remembered for his witty sense of humor and his suave and debonair looks. "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race. I have kept the faith. Now there is laid upon me a crown of righteousness which the Lord, the ultimate Judge, shall award to me on that day." II Timothy 4:7-8

Charles is survived by his wife, Mariana, his daughter, Julie Tschoerner and her husband David, granddaughter Abbie Tschoerner, grandson Ben Tschoerner, sister-in-law Sonia McMillon, nephews Gary McMillon and wife Patty, Rob McMillon and wife Toni, and several cousins. He is reunited in Heaven with his parents and twin brother, Billy.

Pallbearers are Ben Tschoerner, Gary McMillon, Rob McMillon, Sam Stewart, Chuck Brown, and Jim Walker.

Honorary pallbearers are Mickey Blake Robertson and Dwain Robertson.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Heart Association.

''Well done, good and faithful servant.'' Matthew 25:21
