Bobby was born in Randolph, Texas on December 9, 1943 to Earl and Jewel Adams, the third of five children. Born the son of a sharecropper, he grew up working on the farm alongside his family. After the family moved from the farm to Leonard, Texas, he continued his strong work ethic mowing lawns and raising chickens and selling eggs, later working after school and weekends at a local Leonard grocery store.
After graduating from Leonard High School in 1961, he attended East Texas State University earning a bachelor's degree. After graduation, while working as a teller and loan officer at the Leonard Bank, he met his future wife, Jean Evans, when she came in seeking a school loan. He agreed to the loan on one condition, that she go out with him. Later he was manager of a local lumber yard and spent two years teaching school.
Returning to ETSU, he earned a masters degree. After moving to Greenville, where Jean began teaching school, he worked at Stevenson's Shoes and earned his real estate license and joined the firm of Danny Darby Real Estate, a few years later opening Bob Adams Real Estate.
In 1984, he and business partner, Michael Heine, opened, Adams and Heine Land Office and began land developments around Hunt county, Lake Fork and Lake Tawakonie such as Hideaway Estates, Hidden Meadow, Sand Creek and others.
After the passing of Jean Adams in 1998, he married Linda Miller Moore after midnight church service on January 1, 1999. She knew he was a keeper when he asked if he could take her car to be washed and he brought it back with a full tank of gas.
Bobby had many special friendships with business associates and classmates from Leonard High School.
