Martha was born on May 24, 1926, in Whitewright, Texas to Austin Everett Claborn and Lona May (Owen) Claborn. Martha married Monroe Hackney, her husband of 53 years, on September 26, 1944, and was a member of the Kingston Baptist Church.
A long-time resident of Celeste, Texas, Martha worked many years at J.R. Love's in Celeste, Farmers Coop in Greenville and with Olan Mills Photography, just to name a few. She also worked for The Bridal Shop in Greenville and the Highway 69 Mobile Home Sales business that she and Monroe owned and managed for many years. Martha loved family and friends get-togethers, whether it be the holidays, and cooking for some very big meals! She was a ''cook extraordinaire'' and loved for everyone to come and share a meal with her and Monroe.
Martha absolutely ''loved'' to travel and was always ready with a suitcase packed and set to go! She made numerous trips with her niece, Marilyn Hopewell, and they shared a love to watch the Dallas Mavericks and the Dallas Cowboys.
Martha is survived by her sons, James Hackney and wife Kathy of Rockwall; Jackie Hackney and wife, Vickie of Campbell; 5 grandchildren, Lance Hackney, and wife Christine; Ashley McCasland and husband Scott; Missena Hackney Clites; Amber Edington; Melissa Duncan and husband Steven; 14 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Martha was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Monroe; sisters Opal Davis, Esta Brookins, Lula Jinkins; brothers J.P. Claborn and Truman Claborn.
Pallbearers will be Lance Hackney, Steven Duncan, Scott McCasland, River Huff, Johnny Claborn and Bryon Fugitt. Honorary pallbearers will be James E. Claborn, Austin Langford and Jimmie McKenney.

Greenville, TX Wednesday, April 3, 2024 Dearest Jim, Jack and Vickie,I'm so very sorry to hear of your Mom's passing. I remember her as a GREAT woman, wife, mother and friend. She and your dad took my mom and I into their lives when we needed them the most.
When they built their new home, I had just seen a little girl on TV who had traveled to a magical world with magical creatures, and I felt I was in the Wonderful World of Oz. It was SO BIG & BEAUTIFUL to me.
I was so in love with Jackie that I named my first dog after him. I would tell Martha Joe that she needed to make him breakup with Vicky, I was so jealous.
I have so many awesome memories from that time. From that one ole colly dog that would always knock me down while playing, to Monroe taking me to feed the ducks on the pond behind the house. Each one greater than the last.
You all, are in my thoughts and prayers.
With much love,
Susan Walker
