Rosabel was born on July 14, 1927, in Honey Grove, Texas, to Homer Henley and Mary Esther Dowlen Henley. She graduated from Greenville High School in 1944, where she was a member of the Flaming Flashes. She attended East Texas State Teachers College while working at her father's hardware store. She was later employed by Montgomery Ward and the Greenville Morning Herald. Rosabel married Bill Gilmer on February 28, 1953, in Greenville, Texas at Wesley Methodist Church. She began her 32 year career at First Federal Savings and Loan / Centennial Savings Bank in 1956, retiring as branch manager. She was a faithful member of Wesley United Methodist Church for 89 years.
Rosabel is survived by her son Greg Gilmer and wife Leann, grandchildren Gregory Gilmer and wife, Holly, Kelsey Calbow and husband, Kasey, great-grandchildren Hadley and Sadie Gilmer.
Rosabel is preceded in death by her husband in 2021, parents, and brother Weldon Henley.
The family would like to give a special thanks to the staff at Briarcliff for their love and care of Mrs. Gilmer.
