Douglas Alfonzo Taylor

Douglas Alfonzo Taylor, 77, of Campbell, passed away on September 21, 2024, in Dallas, Texas. A memorial service will be 2:00 P.M., Sunday, October 6, 2024, at Coker-Mathews Funeral Home Chapel with nephew, Baret Sanders officiating.

Douglas was born May 21, 1947, in Dierks, Arkansas, to Odes Taylor and Vena Jones. He had one older sister Shirley, and one younger sister Deborah. Douglas was a long time Hunt County resident, and hardly ever met a stranger. He married Freda McDonald on March 16, 1986, in Campbell, Texas. Some of his favorite past times were being with his familyâ€"he loved being with his kids, grandkids and great-grandkids. He enjoyed going to local sporting events to support his grandkids, fishing, and being outdoors when able. This past year he discovered a new hobby of panning for goldâ€"he would order pay dirt from all over the USA and pan for gold from the comforts of his front porch. It was a lot of fun for him and the whole family!

Over the years before he retired, he worked for the Coca Cola Company in the 1960's, graduated from Hicks Barber College in 1970 and was a local barber for years before he began his long time trucking career.

He is survived by his wife, Freda; sons, Gary Don Taylor and wife, Loretta, Glenn Taylor and wife, Cyndi, Jessie Branch and wife, Ginny, and Jeff Branch and wife, Cindy; daughter, Shayla Harrison; sister, Deborah Sanders and husband, Ricky; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his son, Rodney Taylor; parents, Odes and Vena Taylor; and sister, Shirley Sloan.
