A proud veteran, Dave retired as a Chief Master Sergeant after more than 30 years of dedicated service to his country. His legacy of commitment, honor, and strength will live on through all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Dave was predeceased by his beloved wife of 63 years, Sybil Grace French. He is survived by his daughter, Lisa Gayle Cook, and son, David French; four cherished grandchildren - Adriana Cook, Patrick Cook, Alex French, and Casey French; and three adored great-grandchildren - Brooklyn Grace Cook, Leilani Cook, and Preston Cook.
Known for his sparkling blue eyes and captivating storytelling, Dave had a gift for conversation and a heart that always made room for others. He was a man who found joy in the simple things - watching Westerns, tuning in to The Five, or spending quality time with his family. Vacations with loved ones, whether at the beach or exploring museums filled with airplanes, classic cars, and military ships, were among his favorite moments.
Above all, Dave was a provider, protector, and the foundation of his family. He lived with quiet strength, humor, and an unwavering love that touched every life he encountered.
A visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m. on May 29, 2025, at Coker-Mathews Funeral Home, followed by a graveside service at 11:00 a.m. at Shady Grove Cemetery.
We were truly blessed to know and love him. His stories, his laughter, and his presence will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

Greenville, TX Tuesday, May 27, 2025 I will cherish my memories of visiting with David the last several months of his life. He continually thought of his family. He repeatedly told me that he was not afraid of his approaching death. His concern was for those he loved -his family. He was a servant to our country for many years in the United States Air Force. He was a man who continually gave to causes greater than himself. May the Lord bless his family with grace and peace as they grieve his death. As his family shared, David held to to John 11:25, "Jesus said to her, 'I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live, and everyone who lives and believes in me shall never die. Do you believe this?'"
