Melinda Karis Atwood was born on August 5, 1973 at T. E. Schumpert Hospital in Shreveport, LA to Bert and Linda Roseland. She contracted breast cancer and gradually succumbed to the disease over the last several years. She was promoted to be with the Lord at noon on November 5, 2025.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, November 17, 2025 at Family Fellowship at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Paul Blue officiating. Burial will follow at Memoryland Memorial Park. A visitation will be on Sunday, November 16, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Kari graduated from Hallsville High School in 1991 and Baylor University in 1994. She married her loving husband Todd Atwood on July 25, 1992 and they were devoted partners in life for thirty-three years. She homeschooled two brilliant children until their graduations in 2014 and 2017. She spent 18 years alleviating physical stressors in clients let down by the medical community, running her own business called the Reset Button.
Kari served in the churches she attended her entire life to include as children's teacher at Machaira Bible Church, prep school director at Grace Bible Church of Rockwall and taught a ladies Bible study at Family Fellowship of Greenville. She lived three years in Bamberg, Germany while her husband was deployed from 1994 to 1997. She travelled to Kiev, Ukraine for a month on three occasions to serve and teach with her husband on the mission field in 2019, 2020 and 2021. She enjoyed serving the Lord Jesus Christ in which every capacity the Lord put her. She enjoyed giving her testimony of faith in the Lord Jesus Christ to all she encountered.
Kari was preceded in death by her father, Bert Roseland.
Kari is survived by her husband, daughter Alaina Atwood, son Robert Atwood and his wife Natalie, and one grandson August Alexander Atwood. She is also survived by her mother Linda Roseland and brother David Roseland, his wife Krista and their children, Samuel, Isaiah, Elijah, Nathan, Benjamin, Thomas and Melody.
The family thanks Coker-Mathews Funeral Home for their care, professionalism and kindness. The reception with be held at Family Fellowship-Greenville at 401 Division St., Greenville, TX 75401.
