Midge was born and raised in St. Paul, where she developed a strong work ethic, deep compassion for others, and a lifelong devotion to family and friends. She attended Bemidji State University, where she met Dan Boettger, who survives her. They were married in June of 1966, beginning a partnership that spanned nearly 6 decades and was grounded in love, commitment, and shared purpose.
Early in her career, Midge worked in the medical field, serving in the operating room and later as a Physician's Assistant. Her natural ability to care for others was evident in every role she held. She later chose a different calling, trading medicine for farming and devoted herself full time to farming and raising pigs alongside her husband in New Richland, Minnesota. Farming was not just work to Midge; it was a way of life rooted in responsibility, resilience, and family.
Midge's greatest passions were her family and her friends. She was the proud mother of Scott Boettger, who preceded her in death, and Nicole Boettger of Celeste, Texas. She was also a sister to Barbara Lemire and Catherine Jensen, both deceased, and Denise (Keith) Thompson, who survives her. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Julie Burzlaff.
She was blessed with many special friends she considered bonus family, including Orlan and Joyce Echternach; Chris, Sarah, Cainan, and Cai Caves; and Rusty, Ashlee, Hunter, and Ryen Haglund. Their friendship and love brought her great joy and companionship throughout her life.
Midge was well known and fondly remembered for her baking especially her white-frosted brownies and Special K bars, treats that became traditions at gatherings and a simple way she showed love to those around her. She also had a deep affection for Labrador Retrievers, especially her beloved Haley, and found great joy and purpose in the retriever community where she volunteered and formed lasting friendships.
Midge will be remembered for her strength, her kindness, her dependability, and the many small ways she made people feel cared for. Her legacy lives on through her family, her friendships, and the countless lives she touched through both her work and her generosity.
A small graveside service will be held 1:00 P.M., December 26, 2025 at St. Peter's Cemetery in New Richland, Minnesota. A Celebration of Life will be held this summer, with details to be shared at a later date.
