Jeri was born June 27, 1934, in Hunt County, Texas, to Earnel Walter and Zera Jernigan Humphries. She married Ray Allen Sweet on February 2, 1952, in Raton, New Mexico. She worked as a secretary and was a member of the former Lamar Baptist Church.
Jeri is survived by her daughters, Pamela Sweet, Michelle Carpenter; brother, Donald Humphries and wife, Sharon; sister, Sandra Vaughn and husband, Dan; grandchildren, Ricky Uptergrove, Chad Uptergrove, Brooke Willis(Kurt), Matthew Burton(Toree) and Megan Slaight(Cody) great-grandchildren, Hannah Uptergrove, Peyton Willis, Cash Willis, Addison Burton, Grayson Burton, Brynlie Slaight; great-great-grandson, Jadelyn Andrews; numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; sister, Launa Sumrow; brothers, E. R. Humphries, Billy Humphries, Jack Humphries, and E.W. Humphries, son-in- law Rusty Carpenter.
