Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 13, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. in the chapel of Coker-Mathews Funeral Home, with Dr. James Ralson and Mr. Jerry Bench officiating. Burial will follow at Memoryland Memorial Park. Visitation will be Monday, January 12, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Louise was born on February 15, 1934, in Blackshear, Georgia, to Ira Levi Youmans and Macy Lee Peacock Youmans. In 1954, she married the love of her life, Homer C. Short, and together they built a life rooted in faith, family, and devotion to one another.
Louise dedicated many years of service as a secretary at Lamar Elementary before retiring. She was a faithful and active member of Highland Terrace Baptist Church, where her quiet strength, kindness, and servant's heart were evident to all who knew her. Louise was known for her warmth, her steady presence, and the deep love she had for her family, especially her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by her sons, Ronnie Short, Steve Short and wife Gena, and David L. Short and wife Kerrie; her grandchildren, Monica Montgomery, Christina Chance, Debra Carew, Salanna Reza, and Michael Short; her great-grandchildren, Brandon Scurlock, Skye Montgomery, Autumn Rios, Tristen Scurlock, Austin Carew, Julian Reza, Elliot Reza, and Emerson Reza; along with numerous nieces and nephews who will cherish her memory.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Homer C. Short; three brothers; and three sisters.
Pallbearers honoring Louise's life and legacy will be Brandon Scurlock, Tristen Scurlock, Austin Carew, James Carew, Steven Montgomery, and Joseph Rios.
