Christa M. Wilcoxson

Christa Maria Magdalena Wilcoxson (nee Wolf), 79, died January 19, 2026 at Medical City Plano Hospital in Plano, Texas. Christa was born July 16, 1946, in Fulda, Hesse, Germany. She was the fourth child of Gerhard Paul Wolf and Maria Brehler Wolf.

Christa married John Kinsey Wilcoxson on April 15, 1963 at St. Michael's Kirche (Church) in Fulda, Germany. Built between 820 and 822, St. Michael's Kirche is the oldest replica of the Church of the Holy Sepulchre.

Christa and John moved to Salisbury, Maryland with their young family in 1966 and in 1976 Christa became a naturalized United States citizen. Then in 1977, the family moved to Greenville, Texas.

Christa studied fiber arts at Berea College Craft Program. The college is a major hub for traditional Appalachian crafts, offering workshops in various fiber arts like weaving, basketry, and quilting. Christa became a professional fiber artist and opened her own business called the Lamb Shoppe. For many years, she was a noted community speaker demonstrating the creation of her ''sheep to shawl'' woolen garments and gifts.

A certified yoga instructor, Christa taught yoga in both Greenville and Corpus Christi, Texas where she made numerous, life-long friends. She loved gardening and was a birder, always watching for colorful birds in the backyard sanctuary she created.

Christa became a practicing Buddhist later in life. The study brought her tremendous peace and guided her through life.

Christa is preceded in death by her parents Gerhard and Maria Wolf, her sister Brigitte Kuhnert Urquides (nee Wolf) and an infant brother. She is survived by her husband John, three daughters, and five grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother Manfred Wolf (Karin) of Rockport, Texas.
