Lora Nell Cloud

Lora Nell Cloud, 90, of Greenville, Texas, passed away on March 18, 2026, at the Greenville Health & Rehab. A graveside service will be held on Saturday
March 28, 2026, at 10:00 AM at the Tidwell Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:00 A.M. until service time at Coker-Mathews Funeral Home.

Lora Nell was born August 26, 1935 to parents William Enoch King and Nina Bell King in Brown county, Texas. She married Charles Edward Cloud December 21, 1954, with
Charlie's dad Rev. C. F. Cloud officiating in Bangs, Texas. They were married 69 1/2 blessed years. Their only daughter, Debra Lanell Cloud Scott was born October 11, 1958 in Brownwood, TX.

Charlie was in the Navy during their first years of marriage. At one time, Charlie was stationed in Hawaii, and Nell was there with him. Just a few weeks ago she told her neice that she would love to be back in Hawaii on Waikiki Beach.

Her husband, Charlie, passed away in 2024 and she was so lost without him. They had always done everything together, including building the home they lived in for many years in Greenville, Texas where they both retired. Nell worked in manufacturing for years, many of those alongside Charlie.

Her daughter Debbie passed away on January 4, 2026 after a brief illness and Nell never recovered from losing her only child. Her son-in-law, Clifford Scott, cared for her those few short weeks until she entered the Health & Rehab center for about a week. He took excellent care of Nell, and Debbie would have been so proud of him. Nell and

Charlie were more like parents to Clifford than In-Laws.

Preceding Nell in death were her husband Charles Cloud, daughter Debbie Cloud, Parents William (Bill) King and Nina Bell King, her 2 brothers Noel King and Robert (Bob) King, sister-in-law Alma King, and brother-in-law Earl Hunt.

She is survived by son-in-law Clifford Scott of Greenville, TX, and sister Mary Lou Hunt of San Angelo, TX. Also missing their Aunt Nell are nieces Betty King, Ruby Myers, Margaret Walker, Sharon Gibbons, and Jennifer King, and her 3 nephews Billy Noel King, Richard King, and Robbie Hunt.

We can all rejoice that Charlie and Debbie were standing there with their arms outstretched to welcome Nell home. Oh what a wonderful reunion for them all.

    Dear Clifford and family,
I am deeply saddened to learn of Ms. Nell’s passing. Though I only had the privilege of knowing her for a short time after Debbie’s loss, those moments left a lasting impression on me. She was such a sweet, gentle soul—always kind and full of warmth.
I first met this amazing family through Honor Flight DFW, where I had the honor of serving as Clifford’s guardian.
That connection led me to spend some cherished time with Ms. Nell. I took her and Clifford out to eat at The Cotton Patch, and while Clifford ran errands, she and I sat in my van sharing stories. We bonded over our time living in Hawaii as military dependents—she with Charlie during his Navy years, and me about 30 years later with my husband . It was one of those special moments that connected us across time and experiences.
I visited her a few more times in the beautiful home she and Charlie built together, and each time her sweetness shone through.
In such a brief period, so much happened for your family.
My heart truly goes out to all of you, especially after losing Charlie and then Debbie so recently. Ms. Nell spoke so lovingly of her life with Charlie and her deep affection for her only child, Debbie. She was clearly surrounded by love, particularly from Clifford, who cared for her so devotedly.
God bless you, sweet, sweet Ms. Nell. I’m thankful for the time I had with her and will remember her gentle spirit fondly. May you find comfort knowing she is now reunited with Charlie and Debbie, embraced in their arms once again.
I would be remiss if I did not mention the commitment Clifford has made to take care of Nell in her last days. Nell and Cliff are quite the team, he cared for her, made sure she had her strawberries, and all of her necessities and then some!!! I’m so sorry you have lost both your wife and your mom in law in just a few short months of each other.
    With sincere sympathy,
    Laurie Payton
