Marcia Lyn Giedd,68, born on November 25, 1957, in Bethesda, Maryland, passed away at Hunt Regional Medical Center on April 30, 2026.

Marcia earned her degree in Nursing from West Kentucky Community and Technical College and worked as a Registered Nurse. Later in life, she discovered a passion for painting, and spent many an hour creating works of arts of a variety of mediums, all beginning on a blank canvas. She had great compassion for humans and animals, and cherished being a dog owner for her entire adult life.

She is preceded in death by her husband Robert Giedd and her parents, Eddy Lee Wheeler, and Jeannette Pack Wheeler.

She is survived by her children, John Lemons of Austin, Texas, and Katie Giedd of Jackson, Mississippi; her stepmother, Kathy Slocombe Wheeler; her siblings, David Lee Wheeler, Amanda Joyce, and Edie Patterson; and a host of beloved cousins, nephews, and nieces.

The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to Hope Health Care for their kindness, care, and support to Marcia during her illness.

A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, May 26, 2026, at Coker-Mathews Funeral Home in Greenville, TX.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Parkway Heights United Methodist Church (2420 Hardy St., Hattiesburg, MS, 39201).
