James was born on June 1, 1941, in Emory, Texas to Earl Joseph Rhodes and Eva Mae Brown. He married Mollie Ann Forbes on May 30, 1969 in Point, Texas. He spent most of his years working in the auto parts business where he built lasting friendships with customers, coworkers and friends. He was a devoted Christian and a member of Park Street Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the United States Army.
He cherished his family and was a loving dad and grandfather. He leaves behind his children, Toni Foster (husband Denver), Jeff Rhodes (wife Sam), Jennifer Goss (husband Jody), and Ginger Bryant (husband Jason). He leaves behind his grandchildren, Maci Torres (husband Abe), Josh Denton (wife Veronica), Jordan Menhart (husband Aryah), Zach Bryant, Rylee Goss, Carson Rhodes, Tyler Bryant (wife Abbey), Addison Goss, Lainey Rhodes, Jagger Goss, Kaedee Rhodes, and Emree Bryant. He also leaves many extended family members and dear friends behind.
He is now joyfully reunited with his wife, Mollie Ann and loved ones that went before him including his brothers (Charles, Darnell, and Robert Rhodes) and sisters (Mabel Worley and Pearl O'Neil).
Pallbearers will be Guy Trotter, Randy Koon, Billy Brierton, Mike Riskey, Michael Riskey, Jr. and Ray Shields.
