Virginia Sue Dyson

Virginia Sue Dyson, 96, of Greenville, Texas, passed away on July 17, 2026, at Tender Care. A private family graveside service will be held at Laurel Land Memorial Park in Dallas. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00p.m. at Coker-Mathews Funeral Home.

Virginia was born May 16, 1930, in Tishomingo, Oklahoma, to Homer Covey and Gladys Ann Bracken Johnson. She married the love of her life, James William Dyson, Sr. on February 14, 1948, in Dallas, Texas, where they had both been students at Adamson High School, but had only been dating two weeks when they decided to get married. Virginia worked as an insurance clerk until James and Virginia retired in 1980 and lived in Lake City, Colorado for several years. Once moving back to Texas, they became members of Highland Terrace Baptist Church.

Virginia is survived by her son, James William Dyson, Jr., and wife, Judy; daughter, Elizabeth Morgan and husband, Jerry; grandchildren, Cari Berryhill and husband, J.D., April Wright and husband, Shayne, Holly Morgan, Ashley Jordan and husband, Joe; eight great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband and sister, Roxie McDonald
