Lanford Duane Lawrence
Lanford Duane Lawrence 63, of Mt. Vernon, TX passed away Friday, September 5, 2014 in Dallas, TX. A celebration of life is scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday, September 6, 2014 at First Baptist Church of Mt. Vernon with Rev. Steve Hardin and Rev. Pepper Puryear officiating. Coker-Mathews Funeral Home in Greenville, TX is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Lawrence was born July 23, 1951 in Mt. Pleasant, Texas to Leo Duane Lawrence and Melba Mae Hogan Lawrence. He was an inspector for 3i Incorporated of Cleburne, TX. He was a Baptist and attended services at Macon Baptist Church and First Baptist Church of Mt. Vernon. He graduated Mt. Vernon High School in 1969 and attended East TX State University in Commerce.
He is survived by his sons, Lanny Lawrence and wife, Angie of Houston, Matthew Lawrence and wife, Resia of Denton and their mother, Jeanne Lawrence of Mt. Vernon, brother, David Lawrence and wife, Lisa of Mt. Vernon, sister, Brenda Sims and husband Danny, of Mt. Vernon, grandchildren, Jenna, Taylor, Lanny Jr., Ella Rae and Lyla Lawrence, nephews and wives, Steve and Therese Sims, Brian and Brittany Sims, Bill and Jessica Sims, all of Greenville, and Sam and Ben Lawrence and niece, Emily Lawrence, all of Mt. Vernon, numerous great- nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents and grandparents, Lester and Carrie Lawrence and Truett and Trixie Hogan.
Pallbearers will be Dane Owens, Keith Cargile, Donnie Surratt, Waymon Newsom, Randy Newsome, Danny Sims, Chris White, and Joe Borden. Honorary Pallbearers will be Steve Sims, Brian Sims, Bill Sims, Sam Lawrence, Ben Lawrence and Trey Newsome.
