Marie Turner Ball

Marie Turner Ball, 84, of Greenville, Texas passed away Saturday, November 19, 2011 at her residence. Services will be held at 10 A.M. Tuesday at Highland Terrace Baptist Church with Dr. Bobby Atkins officiating. Burial will be at Memoryland Memorial Park. Visitation will be Monday from 6 PM to 8 PM at the funeral home.
Born July 9, 1927 in Upshur County, she was the 9th child of Johnny Lucas Bartley Walker and Claudia Bessie Ann (Williams) Walker. She graduated from Floyd High School in 1945 as Valedictorian and received her bachelor’s degree in 1978 from East Texas State University. In 1960, she married John T. Turner, Jr. who preceded her in death in 2000. In 2002, she married Rev. Harry O. Ball; he preceded her in death in 2009.
Mrs. Ball worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone as an operator, was a cashier for Quinlan State Bank and Colonial Bank, and was a classroom reading teacher for Quinlan I. S. D. retiring in 1998. She was a member of Highland Terrace Baptist Church where she attended the Adult 15 (Lighthouse) Sunday school class. For many years, she taught Sunday school, and she served as former PTA President and former board member of Women in Need.
Her survivors include her sons Harold Wayne Henderson and wife Linda of Avon, Ohio and Jerry Henderson of Arlington, Virginia; daughter Cherilyn Kinney of Greenville; step-son Butch Turner and wife Roxanne of Quinlan, nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, brothers Bill Walker and wife Pearlie of Garland, Guy Walker of Caddo Mills, and Albert Walker and wife Mary Kay of Flower Mound.
In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by seven brothers and two sisters.
