Doris Camile Coon passed away peacefully to eternal life on Friday, November 9th at Hunt Regional Medical Center. No formal visitation will be held. A graveside service is scheduled for 10:30 AM Wednesday, December 5th at Forest Park Cemetery with Rev. Marvin McDaniel officiating.

Doris was born a twin on March 7, 1920 to Clyde and Myrtle Capp of Woodlawn, Illinois. She attended schools in Mt. Vernon, Illinois and graduated from Mt. Vernon Township High School in 1938.

She married Jack Coon of Rockford, Mich. in 1939 and became a mother to a daughter, Dana, in 1943. Doris and her husband lived in Springfield, Illinois for twenty-five years. During these years, she and her twin sister traveled with their husbands to many Twins Conventions. She and Dorothy won the most identical twins contest several times. Doris was very creative and liked sewing, crafts and flower gardening.

After her husband’s retirement, they moved to Venice, Florida where they enjoyed new friends and warm weather. After Jack’s death in 1980, and serious surgery, Doris moved to Greenville to be with her beloved twin sister, Dorothy Jenkins. Dorothy was a devoted caretaker to her sister for 23 years. They lived in a house together for many years before moving into Colonial Lodge where they enjoyed friendships and staff. A special thanks goes to Colonial Lodge and Briarcliff for their loving care and concern for Doris.

She was a member of Wesley Methodist Church and the ARL class for many years.

Doris is survived by her daughter Dana Van Gorden and son-in-law Lee of Mountain Top, PA; her grandson Eric Van Gorden and wife Jan and great-grand children Ethan, Josh and Madison Van Gorden of Mountain Top, PA; her twin sister Dorothy of Greenville: niece Linda Bolin and her husband Don and family members Tom, Joy and Mallory Hosey, Bill and Lisa Bolin, and Bill and Juanita Sharpe. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and brother, Paul Capp.

The family has requested any memorials be sent to Wesley United Church “Good Samaritan Fund”, 5302 Hwy 69 South, P. O. Box 864, Greenville, TX   75402.

Doris had experienced much pain and severe respiratory problems for a long time. We know she is released from physical pain in her heavenly home.
