Your Loving Mom Greenville, TX August 21, 2013
"My sweet, loving, selfless, courageous, beautiful daughter, always putting others first, always smiling, always seeing the bright side of everything-no matter how gloomy things might have been-You have been a wonderful daughter and friend and I will always be so proud of who you were and what you stood for and so grateful that God gave you to me for a little while. Although my heart is broken because of losing you, I know you are with your Dad now and that the two of you are celebrating your reunion. I'm sure you are looking down at me watching me cry and wishing you could make me feel better about you being gone so I will try to remember your instructions to laugh-not cry-and to go on living my life for those who are still here that I love, too.

I was thinking about life and death being separated by a bridge and on the life side of the bridge are those who are dealing with stress, sorrow, pain, and sickness but on the other side, everyone is restored and well again.I wrote this for you today and it helps me to think you are now safe and well on the "other side".

There is a bridge over life's stormy sea,
That leads to a place I've been longing to be,
In this sweet place, there's no sorrow or pain,
And loved ones we've lost are together again.

I've crossed the bridge, left my troubles behind,
I've been born again WELL in my body and mind,
I'm running and laughing and feeling no pain,
I've crossed the bridge, and I'm living again.

Don't cry for me even though we're apart,
You'll know that I'm near with each beat of your heart,
And one day soon I will see you again,
When you cross the bridge and we walk hand in hand.

My sweet Monique, you have crossed the bridge, but I won't be far behind and my love for you will continue throughout eternity. You will forever be my beloved"Little Monkey", my brave, loving daughter and friend. I hope you knew how much you were loved by all your family and friends. When I feel like crying, I'll try to remember the Dr. Seuss quote we all loved: "Don't cry because it's over-Smile because it happened!" You filled our lives with love, sunshine and smiles and we will all miss you terribly until we meet again!"
