Ida Marie Erwin Keeton went to be with her Lord and Savior on December 20, 2013.  She passed away peacefully at her residence in Mesquite.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 26, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at the chapel of Coker-Mathews Funeral Home.  Visitation will be held 1:00 p.m. until service time at the funeral home.

Marie was born in Lone Oak, Texas March 26, 1922 to Robert Gordon (Bob) and Laura Wineinger Erwin.

In November 1940 Marie married Morris Edwin Foster from Caddo Mills, Texas they had two children Billy Dale Foster and Gloria Geane Foster.

She later in life married Ben Oren Keeton in 1960.  Ben was from Ft. Worth.

Marie spent her life serving people.  She started out as a seamstress at Shirey Manufacture and worked at Montgomery Wards.  She later went to nursing school where she found her dream in life by helping others.  She worked at the Greenville Hospitals, Parkland, Baylor, Gaston, C C Young, in Dallas and hospitals in California.  She also worked for Vista Care Hospice and several nursing homes.  At age 80 she still worked, because she loved the patients.  She was a member of the Eastern Star, Soroptomist Club, Toastmaster, and the LVN Association.

Marie also enjoyed taking college classes to keep her mind active and had an A-B average in all her classes.

But most of all Marie loved her family.  She set up with all her brothers and sisters before they passed away to care for them.  She loved and went to all the family reunions, anytime there was an opportunity to be with her family she was there.

Marie is survived by her son, Billy Dale Foster and wife Helen from Beaumont; daughter, Gloria Mitchell and husband Butch; grandchildren, Kenneth Newman Peters and wife Stacy, Joe Edwin Peters and wife Shellie of Greenville, Robert Dale Foster, Jeffery Scott Foster of Temple, Georgia, Lori Foster Williams from Mesquite Teresa Marie Foster of Taylor and Rebecca Dawn Cardenas.  Marie had numerous nieces, nephews, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren that she loved and delighted in watching grow.  She also loved her adopted dog Spot.

Marie will be missed by many and was certainly a “hoot” to those who knew her.  We know she is having a big family reunion in heaven.

Marie is preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Loyd Erwin, Loys (Frosty) Erwin, Leo Erwin, Billy John Erwin; sisters, Mrytle Erwin Lindsteadt, Bobbie Faye Erwin Brown and a set of twins that were deceased at birth.

Pallbearers will be Josh Dietrich, Roger McNeil, J. D. Peters, Joe Edwin Peters, Kenneth Newman Peters, and Brian Sims.

Contributions can be made to Central Christian Church in Greenville or St. Jude’s Hospital.

Thanks to her son and daughter-in-law, Billy and Helen Foster and her nephew Mike Brown, nieces Janet Brown McNeil and Gloria Ann Brown for helping with her care and a special thank you to VNA Hospice Group out of Dallas and the Mesquite Fire Department.  She was so blessed to have their helping hands.

"Marie was an amazing lady who gave of her time to others out of pure love and unselfishness. She was feisty and didn't mind telling you what she was thinking either. I always got a good laugh out of listening to her talk. Marie was there for my step-dad Steve when he passed. I can't thank her and her family enough for always making me feel welcome and a part of their family. She was one of a kind and will be greatly missed."
