Olive “May” Shelton (Johnson) Loving wife, devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great grandmother, sister, aunt & friend went peacefully to meet her Lord and Savior on August 31st, 2014.
May was born on May 11th, 1923 in Havre, Montana. She married Billie Joe Shelton on February 7th, 1953 and together they were committed to the preservation of family and ensuring that their children are children of God. Through the years May was active in church and enjoyed singing solos and in the choir. She also loved to travel and spend time with her children and grandchildren playing games.
May was most recently a resident of Anna, Texas and was previously a long time resident of Lewisville, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents to Robert E. Johnson and Dora Anna Fox (Blue), her husband of 53 years Billie Joe Shelton, brothers Robert “Bob” Johnson, William “Bill” Johnson, Jesse Fox, Wayne Fox, and Eddy Fox, sisters Cora Johnson, Darleen Fox, and Mary Fox. She is survived by her children Jackie Black and her husband Fred, Bruce Shelton, Jerrel Shelton, Howard Shelton and his wife Shirley, Beverly Behling and her husband Jim, Julie Rangel, Mary Jo Beblo and her husband Leon, 16 grandchildren, numerous great and great-great grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral services will be held at Coker-Mathews Funeral Home in Greenville on Thursday, September 4th at 10:00 A.M., with Rev. Jack Shelton officiating. Family visitation will be Wednesday, September 3rd from 6:00-8:00 P.M. Interment will follow at Wieland Cemetery in Hunt County.
Pallbearers will be Leon Beblo, Christopher Shelton, DeShon Gilbert, Rudy Meza, Jarrod Gideon and Jeremy Gideon.
