Dottie was born on October 25th, 1928, in Greenville, Texas to Leo Wentworth Elliott and Mary Louise Ende Elliott. She was the great granddaughter of the late Charles Fred Von Ende and Emilie Amelia Rinecker Von Ende who founded a mercantile business on the town square of Greenville in the mid-1800s and was one of the community’s most active civic leaders.  Between 1857-1859, Dottie’s great grandfather built the oldest standing house in Greenville that is known as the Ende-Gaillard House now located at the American Cotton Museum.

Dottie retired from Sears in Greenville, Texas after more than 25 years of service, working in various departments during her career.

Dottie was a longtime resident of Hunt County, Texas, living in Lone Oak and Greenville before moving to Longview, Texas in 2001.  Prior to moving to Longview, she enjoyed volunteer work as a “Pink Lady” at Presbyterian Hospital of Greenville, now known as Hunt Regional Healthcare at Greenville. She loved to cook and was an avid gardener, growing the most beautiful flowers and herbs the eye could behold. Dottie spent quiet hours listening to music; she loved “Big Band Music”. One of her favorite songs was Tom T. Hall’s “I Love”.  After moving to Longview, she found great joy in volunteering at Hiway 80 Rescue Mission, modeling for Martin’s clothing store and she loved to shop. Due to health issues, Dottie moved to Fort Worth, Texas in January, 2013 where she lived her remaining days.

Dottie was a member of Winterfield United Methodist Church in Longview, Texas. Her most loved quote was, “Lord help me to remember that nothing is going to happen to me today that you and I can’t handle together”, author unknown. She carried this quote with her for over 20 years.
