Earnest Taylor Davis, 84 of Celeste, passed away on December 27, 2014 at the Hunt Regional Medical Center of Greenville. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, at the chapel of Coker-Mathews Funeral Home with Rev. Chuck Ballard officiating. Burial will follow with a graveside at 3:00 p.m. at Everman Cemetery in Everman, Texas. Visitation will be Tuesday, 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Earnest was born in Dallas, Texas on May 30, 1930 to Eugene Taylor and Nora Beyer Davis. He married Barbara Ann Rodgers on October 12, 1951. He served his country with the U. S. Air Force. Earnest worked as a funeral director in the 1950’s, with the U. S. Postal Service, The DeSoto Fire Department and also served as a volunteer Fire Chief of Merit. He was affiliated with Winnetka Bible Church, Faith Bible Church of DeSoto, Aldersgate Church, Paradise Baptist, and Higher Trails Cowboy Church.
Earnest is survived by his wife, Barbara Davis of Celeste; sons, Michael Taylor Davis & wife, Cherí of Campbell, Craig Thomas Davis of Ft. Worth; daughter, Michele Marie Boerder and husband, Scott of Rockwall; sister, Imogene Darr & husband Lyle of Houston; aunt, Mary Amos of Greenville; niece, Debbie Babic; nephew, Stephen Darr; 7 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Dustin Davis, Dillon Davis, Ryan Boerder, Andy Fife, Don Fife. Honorary pallbearers will be representatives of the Hunt County Fire Departments.
