Malia Jo Sanders
Malia Jo Sanders, 54, of Commerce, died Tuesday, June 16, 2015 at Hunt Regional Medical Center in Greenville. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM, Saturday, June 20, 2015 at First Baptist Church in Commerce with Dr. Ron Wells and Rev. Jeff Johnson officiating, with burial in Williams Cemetery near Tyler. Visitation will be Friday, 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the church. Coker-Mathews Funeral Home in Greenville is in charge of arrangements.
Malia was born in Greenville on July 20, 1960. She was the daughter of Bill Sanders and Martha Barnes Sanders. She was a speech pathologist with the Commerce Independent School District for 27 years and a member of the Flint Baptist Church.
Survivors include her parents, Bill and Martha Sanders of Tyler; sister, Mahra Sanders of Commerce; brothers, Brian Sanders of Hawkins, Boyd Sanders and wife, Traci of Tyler and Paul Simpson and wife, Kelley of Memphis, Tennessee; nephews and nieces, Danny Sanders and wife, Amanda, Jessica Sanders, Mayzi Sanders, Kinzi Sanders and Jordan Brazil.
The family requests memorials in lieu of flowers be made in Malia’s memory to: Commerce School Educational Enrichment Foundation, designated for CES, 3315 Washington Street, Commerce, Texas 75428; Autism Awareness Foundation, Inc., 329 Elton Hills Dr., NW, Rochester, MN 55901 or the charity of the giver’s choice.
