James N. Smith, 87, of Farmersville passed away December 13, 2015 at his residence.
A graveside service will be held at 10:00 AM Friday at Memoryland Memorial Park under the direction of Coker-Mathews Funeral Home. Rev. Jim Goodwin will officiate. Visitation will be Thursday from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
Born October 25, 1928 in Hillsboro, Illinois, James was the son of Fred and Ethel (Walcher) Smith. On August 9, 1954, in Kirkwood, Missouri, he married Vera Louis Griffith. He was a farmer/cattle rancher and a farm equipment dealer. James was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church.
His survivors include his daughter, Lynn Owen of Royse City; brother, Wayne Smith; grandson, Jason Brewer; and great-grandson Merrik Brewer.
His parents, wife, and brother Roy Smith preceded him in death.
In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be made to the American Red Cross of El Paso and Southern New Mexico, 3620 Admiral St., El Paso, TX 79925.
