Linda “Cissy” Gilbert, 74 of Greenville, passed away on Saturday, October 22, 2016 at her residence. A Celebration of Life service is scheduled for 11:00 AM, Tuesday, October 25, 2016 at Highland Terrace Baptist Church under the direction of Coker-Mathews Funeral Home with Rev. Kent Jones and Rev. Royce Litchfield officiating. Visitation will be Monday, October 24, 2016 from 6 P.M. to 8 P.M. at the funeral home.
Cissy was born in Ft. Worth, Texas on June 21, 1942 to Thornton and Lois Overman Crowder. She had been married to Rev. Jimmy Gilbert for 30 years. She graduated from Texas Tech in 1964 with a BA in child development, and was a social worker for Hunt County MHMR. She was a member of Highland Terrace Baptist Church, and her greatest desire was to point others to God’s grace and mercy available through a relationship with Jesus.
She is survived by husband Rev. Jimmy Gilbert of Greenville, children, Kelley Weaks Knight and husband Judd of Greenville, Kyle Jones and wife Misti of Lubbock, Kent Jones and wife Tammy of Melissa, David Jones and wife Mindy of Grand Prairie, Ginger Matthews and husband Brett of McKinney, Clint Gilbert and wife Naomi of Greenville, Gina Gilbert and husband Kirby of Commerce, sister-in-law Celeste Crowder of Frisco, brother-in-law & sister-in-law Tommy and Pat Gilbert of Paris, grandchildren David Weaks, Marley Knight, Jillian Jones, Atlas Jones, Brooks Jones, Brayden Jones, BrynnLee Jones, Rowan Jones, Laurel Jones, Joshua Wright, Mason Matthews, Merritt Matthews, Marlowe Matthews, Leah Gilbert, Jack Gilbert, Tori Reiber, and Macy Reiber.
She is preceded in death by her parents, daughter Laura Wright, brother Tom Crowder and son-in-law Dale Weaks.
