Charlie E. Jones, Jr., 85 of Rockwall, went to be with the Lord on November 1, 2016 in Murphy, Texas. Funeral services are scheduled for 2 P.M., Saturday, November 5, 2016 at Coker-Mathews Funeral Home Chapel with Mr. Charlie R. Jones officiating. Visitation will be 1:00 P.M. until service time.
Charlie was born on March 17, 1931 in Greenville, Texas to Charlie. E. Jones, Sr. and Beulah Ann Parsons Jones. He married Martha Jane Turner from Greenville in 1951 and served in the US Army. In 1952 he graduated from East Texas State University with a BS degree in Chemistry. He worked for 15 years as a Research Chemist at Texas Instruments in Richardson, Texas. In 1973 he felt the call to the ministry and served as Administrator of Brookhollow Christian Schools and associate pastor of Brookhollow Baptist Church until his retirement in 2009. He received a Doctor of Divinity degree from Faith Bible Seminary in 1976.
He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Martha Jane Jones, son Charlie R. Jones and his wife Sally, daughter in law Debby Jones, 7 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Beulah Jones and son, Russell Jones.
