Lucy Gibson, 73, of Celeste passed away Feb. 24, 2017 at Medical City of Mckinney. Funeral service will be held at 10 A.M., Tuesday, Feb. 28 in the chapel at Coker-Mathews Funeral Home with Rev. Bob Layman officiating. Interment will follow at Merit Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Born January 18, 1944 in Livingston, Texas, Lucy was the daughter of W.A. Shanks and Aileen (Smith) Shanks. On February 14, 1963 she married Gary Gibson. Mrs Gibson was a homemaker and was retired as City secretary of Celeste. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Celeste.
She is survived by sons, Joel Gibson and wife Heather of Celeste, Jeff Gibson of Celeste, Grandchildren Josh Gibson, Skylar Gibson, Whitney McIntyre, Randy Stratton, Starla Harrell, Trey McIntyre and Alicia McIntyre, six great grandchildren, Brothers-in-law Bill Gibson of Celeste and Dale Gibson and wife Leslie of Celeste. She is preceded in death by parents, husband Gary in 2016, brother Jay Harrison, uncle W.A. Smith, and sister-in-law Donna Gibson.
Pallbearers will be Eugene Rhoden, Kyle Morton, Matt Gibson, Dustin Gibson and Ray Buckley. Honorary Pallbearers will be Roger Seals, Matthew Hise and Paul Harrell.
