Robert A. Slayton, 74, of Greenville died Monday, March 13, 2017 at Legend Healthcare. A memorial service will be held 2:00 PM, Saturday, March 18, 2017 at Coker-Mathews Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Richard Flowers officiating. Visitation will be 1:00 PM until service time, Saturday.
Mr. Slayton was born in El Paso, Texas on January 7, 1943. He was the son of Patricia Cotreres McAlpine. He married Delores Dinkins on October 17, 1967 in Las Vegas, Nevada. He was a veteran of the U. S. Air Force and was a retired owner of a hardware store. He was a member of Emmanuel Pentecostal Church.
Survivors include his daughter, Samantha A. Hall and husband, Kenneth; Grandchildren, Sandra Hall, C. J. Hall, Deanna Weatherford and Kenneth A. “Bubba” Hall; and great-grandchildren, A. J. Weatherford, Aleah Weatherford and Jacob Weatherford. He was preceded in death by his wife, Delores Slayton; mother, Patricia McAlpine; sister, Diana Parker; and grandson, Justin Andrew Hall.
