Euna Faye Jackson (Ford) passed peacefully from this world on August 10, 2017.  She is now reunited with her husband of almost 74 years, Lewis Andrew Jackson, who preceded her in death on September 28, 2016.  She is survived by two sons, Phillip (wife Joyce), of San Antonio, TX, and Steven (wife Karen), of Edmond, Ok.   plus five grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.

Faye was born in Fannin County Texas on October 22, 1925, to Cora May (Rayon) and Harvey John Ford. She was the youngest of ten children, and is preceded in death by all of her brothers and sisters.  Faye attended Trenton, Tx, schools where she met Lewis Jackson, her future husband.

They married on Oct 24, 1942, shortly after he entered the Army Air Corps during World War II.  Faye followed him to various training locations all over the US until he departed for the Pacific Theater during the war.  She often traveled alone, a significant challenge for a young wife.  During that time, she roomed with several families who became lifelong friends.  She also performed some interesting jobs, such as photo retouching and working at an ice cream parlor.

After the war, Lewis and Faye settled in Denison, Texas.  In July 1952, they moved to Commerce where Lewis was employed by Huffines Chevrolet.  They remained residents of Commerce until moving to assisted living in San Antonio in 2014.

Faye spent many years as a homemaker, taking care of the family.  As a young girl, she helped her father, who was in the insurance business, with his bookkeeping.  This gave her a fastidious attention to detail, and prepared her for the jobs she had later in life.  She ran the Buccaneer Stamp Store in Commerce. She worked in the administrative offices at East Texas State University and also as a teller at the Security State Bank in Commerce.  She completed her work career at WalMart in Commerce.

Faye and Lewis were active members of the First United Methodist Church of Commerce for more than 60 years.  Faye was in the Dough Rollins Sunday School Class, and the Dorcus Circle.  She was always active at church dinners and other functions.  She was a member of the Commerce Business and Professional Women’s Club. She worked with Cub Scouts as a Den Leader, and always helped with Boy Scout Troop 27 activities.  After she retired, she volunteered at the Commerce Hospital.

A Memorial Service celebrating her life is scheduled for Monday August 14, 2017, 10 AM, at the First United Methodist Church, Hiway 24, Commerce Texas, under the direction of Coker-Mathews Funeral Home of Greenville.  Viewing will be prior to the service, from 9-10.  Burial immediately following the service, at Rosemound Cemetry in Commerce.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the First United Methodist Church, Commerce, Tx or the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with you. We always enjoyed visiting with Faye and Lewis. I just saw today that Faye passed away. If we'd known I'd have come to the funeral yesterday. Sunday night some of my cousins had dinner in Garland and Laura Hinkle was there but I guess she didn't know because she only updated us on your health. Would love to see ya'll!!!"
