W. D. Jones, 81, of Commerce, Texas, passed away on Friday, August 18, 2017 at his residence. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 22, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at the House of Prayer with Rev. Kenneth Ballard officiating. Services are under the direction of Coker-Mathews Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Hooker Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
W. D. was born on August 28, 1935 in Point, Texas to Thomas Henry Jones, Sr. and Fannie Mae McDonald. He was a Veteran serving with the US Army and Marines. On January 12, 1956 he married Wanda Jean Norfleet in Rockwall, Texas. He was a retired truck driver.
W. D. is survived by his wife, Wanda Jean Jones; sons, Stephen Allen Jones, James Keith Jones; daughters, Stephenie Diane Roman, Carrie Hopkins; brothers, Thomas Henry Jones, Grady Elvin Jones; 12 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents; son, Jerry Kent Jones and sister, Joy Lavois Ellis.
Pallbearers will be Steve Jones, Barry Jones, Randy Jones, Tracy Jones, Jeffery Roman, Joshua Roman, James Jones and Shannon Vittrup.
