Troy Clarence Haynes passed away peacefully on the morning of January 27, 2018, with family at his side. He was 87.

Troy was born September 1, 1930 in Lone Oak to Clarence and Braddie Haynes. He spent his entire life in the Lone Oak area, riding his horse Old Joe to the historic Twin Elm Elementary before graduating from Lone Oak High School and then attending East Texas State University.

On January 18, 1952, Troy married Glenda Grace Neal, the love of his life with whom he shared everything for 62 wonderful years. He is now reunited with his beloved wife, who preceded him in death in 2014. Together in their happy home they raised four beautiful children: Troy Glenn Haynes of Lone Oak, Cindy Duncan of Greenville, Evelyn Cole of Royse City and Marsha Haynes of Rockwall.

After serving in the Army, Troy worked in security for LTV/E-Systems and as an appraiser for ASCS farm services, but his passion was always farming.  Like his father and grandparents, he was a farmer and cultivated as many as 1000 acres near Lone Oak. He was an active and valued member of the Lone Oak Baptist Church and Lone Oak Civic Club, and he was a past member of the Lone Oak School Board. Troy was also a longtime board member and advisor for the WCID watershed district and Hunt County Farm Bureau.

Troy found true joy in his family and took great pleasure in helping Glenda host memorable holiday gatherings for their four children and spouses, seven grandchildren and their mates, as well as 16 great grandchildren and brother, Dale and his family.  He learned to ski at age 62 and enjoyed many family trips to Colorado and New Mexico where he skied alongside his kids and grandkids.

Troy’s legacy is his family, and he will be remembered with immense love by all, including grandchildren Troy Dale Haynes of Lone Oak, Hollis Goode III of Roanoke, Tony Haynes of Lone Oak, Luke Goode of Greenville, April Habluetzel of Caddo Mills, Tray Haynes of Lone Oak and Jeff Isham of Caddo Mills.

Among the many who did not know him long enough were his great grandchildren Addison and Avery Haynes, Hadley Goode, Kasen, Keller and Kynsli Haynes, Victoria, Logan and Landon Habluetzel, Rileigh and Brynli Haynes, Lawson and Lindley Goode, and Haygen, Riley and Colt Isham.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 PM Tuesday, January 30 at Coker-Mathews Funeral Home in Greenville. Funeral services are scheduled for 2 PM Wednesday, January 31 at Lone Oak Baptist Church, with burial at Lone Oak Cemetery. Pallbearers will be his grandsons. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Lone Oak Civic Club at 903-662-5131.
