Mary Jo (Jody) Doan, 89 of Celeste, died Friday, August 24, 2018 in Greenville. Her funeral service will be 10:00 AM, Monday, August 27, 2018 at Higher Trails Cowboy Church under the direction of Coker-Mathews Funeral Home. Rev. Randy Bird will officiate. Interment will follow at Merit Cemetery. Visitation will be 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Sunday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Doan was born in Valdasta, Texas on July 16, 1929. She was the daughter of James Arthur Stonecipher and Novella Combest Stonecipher. She married George F. Doan on January 31, 1953 in Greenville. She was a member of Higher Trails Cowboy Church.
Survivors include her sons, George K. Doan and wife, Linda, David Doan and wife, Vanessa and Richard Doan and wife, Angela; daughters, Nita Welborn and husband, Steve and Tracie Johnson and husband, Tony; sisters, Jackie Milton and Faye Mitchell; ten grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her Husband, one sister, one brother and her parents.
Pallbearers will be Jason Johnson, Josh Johnson, Aaron Phifer, Jarrod Doan, Brandon Doan, B. A. Addington and Cody Welborn.
The family would like to thank Lexington Medical Lodge for the loving care they gave Mrs. Doan the last two and one-half years.
