Billy Boyd Smith, Jr., 86, of Greenville, died Saturday, August 25, 2018 in Greenville. His funeral service will be 10:00 AM, Wednesday, August 29, 2018 at Coker-Mathews Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Gary Griffin officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Memoryland Memorial Park. Visitation will be 6 P.M. to 8 P.M., Tuesday, August 28, 2018 at the funeral home.
Mr. Smith was born in Greenville on January 2, 1932. He was the son of Boyd Smith, Sr. and Bonnie Lee Creel Smith. He was a Baptist and a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion and AmVets. He was a retired truck driver for Lance.
Survivors include his daughter, Kelly Hall; sons, Boyd “Bodie” Smith, III and Gary Dee Laird; sister, Sue Smith; grandchildren, Bryan Spoonemore, Taylor Shanahan, Lauren Smith, Clay Hall and Kyle Hall; great-grandchildren, Jessica, Whitley, Payton, Jacob, Victoria, Preston and Avery; great-great-grandchild, Jayden; and nephews, Ricky, Randy and Philip. He was preceded in death by his Father, Boyd Smith, Sr.; Mother, Bonnie Lee Creel Smith; sister, Kathleen Simmons; love of his life and wife, Erma Lee Long Smith; Sister, Nancy McCartney; and nephew, Michael McCartney.
Pallbearers will be Marvin Hall, III, Sky Shanahan, Patrick Calahan, Clay Hall, Kyle Hall and Philip Smith.
