Kerry Jo Dodson, 76, of Lone Oak, went HOME to be with Jesus on Tuesday, February 26, 2019 in Dallas. A Celebration of Life will be held 1pm on Friday, March 8, 2019 at Bull Creek Cowboy Church in Lone Oak with Jeff Jackson and Jeff Seif officiating. Coker-Mathews Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Kerry was born on July 17, 1942 in Memphis, TX to Johnny Barton Chaney and Billie Joe Shearer. She met Larry Gene Dodson her High School sweetheart at age 16 in DeRidder, LA. They married February 15, 1964 in Dallas, TX. They loved spending time with their animals, taking long walks around their property in Lone Oak, and were blessed with sixty amazing years together.

Kerry worked at Special Needs by Gloria, for many years, where she was able to witness to and help tons of  cancer patients through their care ministries. Her love for the Lord as well as the Jewish people was undeniable the moment you met her. She didn’t just talk the talk but she walked the walk. She will be greatly missed by her friends and family, and we can all hear her quoting her favorite scriptures whether it be….Trust in the Lord with all Your Heart, Lean not unto your own understanding or I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. We all will miss her little notes signed lovingly P.T.L.

She is survived by her loving husband, Larry Dodson; son, Larry Alan Dodson and daughter-in-love Shirley; brothers-in-law, Sonny, Allen, and Dale; sisters-in-law, Edna, Fonde, Jane, and DeAunn; grandchildren, Amanda Webb and husband Mike, Leslie Powell and husband Jed, and Bradley Disbro; great-grandchildren, Daigan, Haydin, Kinley, Rilyn, Summer, Myka and Eli nieces, Stephanie, Jena, and Leah; nephew Jeffrey along with numerous cousins.

She is preceded in death by her mother, Billie; her father; grandmother, Addy; mother-in-love, Morine and brother-in-law Larry.

In leu of flowers, Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 560089, Dallas, TX 75356
