Mozelle Marguarette Martin Ray, 101, went on “Wings of Angels” to her eternal home with God early Sunday morning, March 17, 2019, at her home. Born in Shiloh Community, Delta County on July 25, 1917, to George and Lucinda Catherine Pratt Martin. She had deep roots at Shiloh as she was a decendent of some of the first settlers of that community from the early 1800’s.
Mozelle married William H. “Bill” Ray on July 21, 1944, when he returned home from WWII. He preceded her in death on November 18, 1996. To this union one precious daughter was born on July 31, 1951, Jeannie Ray Hill. She preceded her in death December 8, 1991.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 21, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Coker-Mathews Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. G.W. McDowell officiating. Interment will follow at Shiloh Cemetery. A gathering of family and friends at 10:00 a.m. prior to the funeral service in the chapel.
Serving as pallbearers will be Darrell Faudree, Derek Martin, Keith Moreland, David Moreland, Brian Humphries, James Brown, Kyle Humphries and Tim Brown. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Keith Martin, Ronnie Almond, Heath Shaffer, Richard Hill and Bill Moreland.
Mozelle was preceded in death by her husband, daughter, parents, four brothers; Obie, Eual, Fred and Warren Martin. One sister, Bess Martin Humphries and many, many other relatives and friends.
Mozelle is survived by numerous nieces and nephews and their families that all loved her dearly.
