Jose Genaro Salinas Cortez, 92, passed away Monday, September 16, 2019 at his residence in Commerce, Texas. A funeral mass will be Friday at 2 PM in the chapel of Coker-Mathews Funeral Home with Deacon Guerrero officiating burial will follow in Memoryland Memorial Park. A rosary will be held Thursday at 6 PM with visitation from 6:30 to 8 at the funeral home.
Jose was born on December 2, 1926 in Mexico to Bacilio Salinas and Maria Elena Cortez. Jose was of the Catholic faith and attended the Iglesia Guadalupana church. Jose had a passion for ranching and loved all his animals very much.
Jose is survived by wife Paula Rodriguez, sons Lino Salinas & Marin Salinas, daughters Maria DeLeon, Clara Salinas, Adela Gurerro, Lety DeLeon and Hilda Mendoza, brothers Leandro Salinas & Victorino Salinas, sisters Consuelo Salinas & Maria Salinas, 22 grandchildren and 36 great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
Pallbearers will be Lino Salinas, Marin Salinas, Oracio Salinas, Omar Salinas, Cesar DeLeon, Jonanthan Mendoza.
